Mr. Fechner became executive
officer of Carolinas Blood Services Region on July 1,
2001.
Previously Mr. Fechner served as the Carolinas Region's
chief operating officer from 1994-2001. Before joining
the Red Cross, he was the administrator of Walter Reed
Army Medical Center in Washington, DC, a post appointed
by the Surgeon General of the Army. He retired from active
duty in the United States Army as a colonel in the Medical
Service Corps.
Mr. Fechner received his undergraduate degree from Kansas
State University and holds a master's degree in health
care administration from Baylor University. He is a Diplomat
of the American College of Health Care Executives. |
